2. Redeem the Time

Man they call these riots, protests

Raising fists for what they think is best

Did they get the facts or fabricated news?

I say we put this nonsense to rest

Man can you believe the hypocrisy?

Peace flies to war in a breeze

They say its rooted in colors of race

But I believe we’re caught in their bait

There is a way that seems right to a man

That’s foolish to the world but the only way

See, we’re not just waiting for the world to end

Saying ‘oh my God! When are you coming back again?!”

Hiding in our homes collecting guns, ammo, and food

As if our only purpose is to survive physical ruin

No, we’re given one life to shine His light and love

Not to hide it in a basket afraid of the night because

Perfect loves casts out fear

Suffering comes with tears

Hope does not disappoint

God prepares those for whom He anoints

Cause creation is awaiting for the sons of God

The earth is moaning and groaning waiting for us

To believe in the truth in the power of liberty

Setting the least of these free from captivity

So what is it to do the work of God? Believe.

Cause darkness cannot overcome the light

3. Love Set Free

There’s a word out there called ‘loyalty’

I’m sure you’ve heard it, but do you know what it means?

Its more than meet my needs, meet her needs, meet our needs,

I’ll only please you if you only please me

Ya that’s a superficial definition of the word ‘love’

Next few lines are going to be tough

If you’ve been living this way you better listen up

I said if you’re living this way you better listen up!

We all know how these stories go

There’s a flame, there’s a spark, with passion in our hearts

But then the day comes when colors fade to gray

Then we ask ourselves, ‘did I make a mistake?’

But my brother, my sister, our question is wrong

Right – out of – the gate

See the world told us to find our soul mate

And that once we did it was somehow fate

That would give us happiness and solve all of our needs

But do we hear ourselves? It’s really all about me?

Wait a minute, this is all wrong from the start

Is it true we can be deceived by our own wicked heart?

Let me breathe, let me see, let me soak in truth

In the revelation that it’s not about you

Its not about you

See I didn’t realize I was so disguised by the layers of lies that covered me eyes

Somehow I read what loyalty means in a book that is good that would set me free

I’ve heard that love is patient and kind

Giving, not self-serving from pride of life

It doesn’t rejoice in what’s wrong, but what’s right

And now I think I’m beginning to regain my sight.

See I’ve hung my head in this miserable shame

As I’ve breathed out a sigh cause I’m sick of this game

Till death do us part – do you really mean it?

In sickness or health – do you really mean it?

For richer or poorer – do you really mean it?

For better or worse – do you really mean it?

Ya you better mean it!

Cause it’s not a piece of paper that keeps love alive

It’s a life that lives in self-sacrifice

To serve, not be served

To give, not be given

To freely give grace, cause you know we’re forgiven

Now you know why we say love is free

it was first freely given by the Son for me

And if in Him I have everything I need

Then there’s no chains of need on your or on me

Ya loyalty is love set free

But what if my pleasing turns into needing things you no longer give?

Will my loyalty change like acquiring tastes or like the blowing of the wind?

Does a ‘yes’ mean ‘yes’ – does a ‘no’ mean ‘no’?

Or is everything a ‘maybe’ and nobody knows?

Do we need a dictionary to find words and their meaning?

Or have lies become truth and facts become feelings?

Are our hearts so fickle and we’re so tickled by the world and what it has to give?

That we would let go of gifts and lose our life for deceptive pleasures of sin?

Will I let shows on tv or wisdom from Walt Disney be my tutor in life and love?

Or will I turn off my screens, open the book of meaning, and soak in the Spirit from above?

Now you know why we say love is free

Cause it was first freely given by the Son for me

And if in Him I have everything I need

Then there’s no chains of need on your or on me
